Sierra Leone will be participating in the Gymnasiade U18 School Sports organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) in Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain in October 2024.

Sierra Leone will take four athletes drawn from athletics and badminton to Manama to partake in the competitive fashion. The athletes were selected from active school sports programmes.

NSA Project Coordinator Chief Michael Shamsu Mustapha is leading activities to make the Bahrain appearance successful and to actualize Dr. Abdulai’s search for talents in schools.

The event will provide students with an opportunity to test their skills against a truly global competition in a fantastic environment, where they make new friends and experience new cultures.

Schedules for 23rd to 31st October 2024, the event will feature the following twenty-five sports:

Six thousand participants are expected to show up in Manama.

The Bahrain appearance will mark the second time Sierra Leone has taken school pupils to the world stage. The first one was in 2022 in Normandy, France where Sierra Leonean athletes participated in athletics, boxing and badminton.

The National Sports Authority is an agency of Government established by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to promote, encourage, develop, and supervise all sports and sporting activities in Sierra Leone and to provide for other related matters.
