Sierra Leone will enter the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier with a first charge against hard nut Kenya on March 28, 2025, in Lagos Nigeria.
The two-week tournament will feature Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and host Nigeria.
This event will mark the final qualifier to the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026. Only one team from this round robin tournament will make it to next year’s show.
The matches will be held at two iconic venues: the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval and the University of Lagos (Unilag) Cricket Oval.
On March 28, Nigeria will face Namibia at the TBD Oval as Sierra Leone pulls the trigger at Kenya at the Unilag Oval.
In 2009, Sierra Leone went close to qualifying for this prestigious tournament. This was after it had graduated to the ICC Under-19 Division 1 tier four times: 2009 (in Maputo), 2018 (in South Africa), 2022 (in Abuja), and 2024 (in Tanzania).
In 2019, sub-regional contender Nigeria secured the lone African ticket and competed in the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup hosted in South Africa in 2020.
