The Sierra Leone U-20 team, Shooting Stars lost 2-0 to a brilliant Moroccan team on Saturday night at the Mohamed VI Sports Complex in Rabat.

Goals from Aqued and Kharroubi in the 28th and 91st minutes secured the winning for the host.

Earlier, the Sierra Leone FA said the match is part of their preparation for the 2025 U-20 AFCON Competition in Ivory Coast this year.

The Shooting Stars team, regarded as one of the most talented squads, features several standout players. Among them are Hindolo Mustapha from Crystal Palace, Osman Kamara, a winger for Arsenal’s U-18 team, and Aaron Kamara, who plays for West Ham United’s U-19 team. All three are in the training camp under the guidance of Coach Mohamed Lamin of the Sierra Leone Premier League team, East End Lions.

The SLFA is also working on securing the services of talented PSV Eindhoven prodigy Isaac Babadi before the competition in April this year.

Danish-born Mamadu Wurie Jalloh served as the goalkeeper for the Shooting Stars. The team currently comprises 11 foreign-based players alongside 16 skilled local-based players who are all in training camp together.

The Shooting Stars aim to improve upon their previous performance in last year’s WAFU tournament, where they faced a narrow defeat against Senegal in the final match.

An impressive performance of the Sierra Leone junior team at the AFCON has the potential to secure them a spot in the World Cup finals for the first time in over twenty years.
