Sierra Leone’s Men’s U-19 Cricket team is gearing up to kick off their campaign in the ICC Men’s U-19 Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier in Tanzania, starting with an opener against Rwanda on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Following their initial match, Sierra Leone will face Malawi on August 5, 2024, and then take on Botswana in their final group stage match on August 7, 2024. The tournament itself commences on August 2, 2024, with host Tanzania squaring off against Nigeria, and Ghana meeting Mozambique on the same day at Dar Gymkhana Oval and UDSM Ovals.
Eight nations are competing for promotion to Division 1, divided into two groups. Group A features Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Botswana, and Malawi, while Group B comprises host Tanzania, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Ghana. The group stage matches will span from August 2 to August 7, 2024.
In the next stage of the competition, the winner of Group A will clash with the runner-up of Group B, and conversely, the runner-up of Group A will challenge the leader of Group B. The losers of these matches will compete for third place, while the winners will vie for the top spot. The top three teams from this stage will advance to the Division 1 stage of the U-19 World Cup qualifier.
