The Sierra Leone National U-20 football team, known as the Shooting Stars, has on Sunday, 20th April, 2025 attended a special church service at the Flaming Evangelical Ministries International on Syke Street, Freetown.

The team was blessed with a powerful prayer from Bishop Frederick Abu S. Koroma, as they prepare for their historic debut in the CAF U-20 AFCON Tournament in Egypt.

Led by the Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Harold Nat-Johnson, the full delegation of players and technical staff gathered to seek divine grace before their significant participation in the tournament.

The Shooting Stars are scheduled to depart Sierra Leone on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025. Their opening match is set for Sunday, 27th April, 2025, coinciding with Sierra Leone’s 64th Independence Day.

The match is not only pivotal for the team but also represents a major milestone for the nation, as it would mark the first time Sierra Leone will compete in the U-20 AFCON.

The gathering at Flaming Evangelical Ministries showcased the team’s readiness, commitment and the national support they are receiving as they depart for the unprecedented match in the world of football.
