The Sierra Leone senior women’s national football team, the Sierra Queens, is currently camping in Guinea Conakry as they await departure to Mauritania for the upcoming WAFU Zone A Women’s Tournament.
Contrary to initial assurances from WAFU that the team would be granted visas on arrival in Mauritania, the Sierra Queens delegation was informed upon arrival in Guinea that pre-travel visas were required. This unexpected development forced a temporary halt in their journey.
However, after swift intervention and coordination by the team’s management, the entire delegation has now successfully secured the necessary visas. The team is scheduled to depart Conakry for Mauritania on Wednesday, 21st May 2025.
In the interim, the Sierra Queens have arranged intensive training sessions in Guinea to maintain fitness and focus as they prepare for the regional showdown. The temporary camp has also provided an opportunity for team bonding and final tactical adjustments ahead of the competition.
The Sierra Leone Football Association remains committed to ensuring the team’s smooth participation and competitive performance in the tournament.
