The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has issued an official clarification regarding the convening of Western Area Division One football clubs at its Secretariat, following a press release circulated by the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) on 2 March 2026.

In a statement dated 2 March 2026, the SLFA explained that it had formally communicated with the WAFA Executive, requesting that all Division One clubs under WAFA’s jurisdiction be summoned to a meeting at the SLFA Secretariat. According to the Association, this request was made in line with established football governance procedures.

The SLFA further noted that, after conveying its request to WAFA, it considered it necessary to issue its own public notice to ensure that no Division One club would be inadvertently excluded from the meeting. The Association said this step was taken as a precautionary measure, informed by past experiences where some clubs were not consistently invited despite formal communications with the regional body.

The statement emphasized that the SLFA’s press release was intended solely to safeguard transparency, promote full participation, and uphold procedural propriety within the football administration framework.

Reiterating its position, the SLFA encouraged all Western Area Division One clubs to attend the meeting as scheduled at the Secretariat, underscoring its commitment to inclusive engagement and proper coordination within the country’s football structure.
