The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has suspended the head coach of the national Under-17 female team, Ms. Fatmata Turay, following allegations linked to audio recordings circulating on social media.
In a press release dated Monday, 23 February 2026, the SLFA announced that Ms. Turay has been placed on immediate administrative suspension pending the outcome of a formal disciplinary inquiry.
According to the association, the action follows the circulation of audio recordings in which statements allegedly attributed to the coach make reference to a U-17 national team player and matters relating to club affiliation and potential national team selection.
The SLFA stated that the allegations, if substantiated, raise serious concerns touching on abuse of authority, conflict of interest, and conduct prejudicial to the integrity of the national team selection process.

“The SLFA considers the independence, transparency, and merit-based nature of national team selection to be fundamental principles of football governance,” the association said in the statement. It added that any act capable of undermining these principles warrants prompt and impartial review.
The association clarified that the suspension is precautionary and administrative in nature and does not constitute a finding of misconduct or liability.
It further noted that the affected official will be afforded full opportunity to respond to the allegations before the appropriate disciplinary body, in strict observance of due process and the rules of natural justice.
The SLFA also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of players, preserving institutional integrity, and ensuring compliance with the highest ethical and professional standards.
