The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has revealed data for the early voters in the different districts.

According to ECSL, there were three hundred and twenty- one (Pilgrims) who cast their vote in each district on 15th June 2023.

“Karene 2 Pilgrims voted; Kenema 23; Koinadugu 10; Falaba 11; Tonkolili 2; Kono 7; Kambia 7; Kailahun 6; Bombali 8; Bo 40; Portloko 9; Moyamba 2; Bonthe 3, Pujehun 6; Western Rural Area 46, Western Urban Area 139 totalling 321 and expected voters 331” said Christopher A.A. Jones of ECSL.

He disclosed that after the early voting, counting will not be done until the completion of the general election voting on 24th June 2023, adding that the ballot papers which were sealed before being taken to the main centre, will be added to the last polling centre in that district.

He said that the ballot papers for the early voters were printed in the land (Sierra Leone) because of the exigency of time for the Pilgrims to pay for the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

He confirmed that the Pilgrims voted only for their presidential candidate, adding that the other ballot papers will arrive at the Lungi Airport at 2 am Saturday, 17th June, where all political parties in Sierra Leone and the media will witness at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi.
