Former Sierra Leone international forward Sidikie Braboss Mansaray has called on the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to formally integrate former national team players into the country’s current football structure.

In a recent appeal, Mansaray emphasized that many ex-internationals who once represented Sierra Leone with dedication and sacrifice still possess valuable knowledge and experience that could benefit the national team.

He suggested that these former players be considered for roles within the team’s administrative and technical setup, including positions such as Kits Manager, Welfare Officer, and other support functions.

According to Mansaray, incorporating retired players into the national framework would not only recognize their past contributions but also help preserve institutional memory within Sierra Leonean football.

He argued that their firsthand experience at international level places them in a unique position to guide and mentor younger players currently representing the country.

He further noted that bridging the gap between past and present generations of footballers could foster unity and continuity within the sport. By maintaining a visible presence of former national stars around the team, Mansaray believes younger athletes would draw inspiration and develop a stronger sense of national pride and responsibility.

The former forward maintained that granting substantive roles to ex-players would represent a progressive step toward strengthening the overall structure of football administration in Sierra Leone. He described the proposal as a strategic move aimed at building a more cohesive and sustainable future for the nation’s football development.

The SLFA has yet to issue an official response to the proposal.
