The Sierra Leone Football Association has announced the opening of a book of condolence in honour of the late Nahim Khadi.
The opening of the book of condolence in honour of the late SLFA president commences Tuesday, June 27th 2023, at the SLFA secretariat, Kingtom at 11 am.
SLFA further acknowledges that mourners and sympathizers wishing to pay respect to the departed football administrators are encouraged to attend and participate in the signing of the condolence Book.
Kadi, who served as the president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for two terms, leaves behind a legacy as a football player, coach, and administrator.
Born in 1948 in Freetown, Nahim Kadi made a significant impact on Sierra Leonean football both on and off the field. He represented the national team, known as the Leone Stars, during the 1960s and 1970s, showcasing his skills and talent.
Kadi also played for various local clubs, including East End Lions and Mighty Blackpool, which are two of the country’s most renowned teams. Notably, he became one of the first Sierra Leoneans of full Lebanese origin to represent the nation in any sport.
In 2004, Kadi secured the position of president of the Sierra Leone Football Association, defeating his closest rival in the election, Joseph Samba Kelfala. He was re-elected for a second term on July 20, 2008, further solidifying his role in shaping the country’s football landscape.
