The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced new dates for the highly anticipated launch of the FIFA Football for Schools Program.
Originally scheduled for earlier this year, the program will now kick off on Monday, February 5th, 2024, and run until Wednesday, February 7th, at the Wusum Hotel in Makeni.
This exciting initiative marks a significant step towards boosting football development at the grassroots level in Sierra Leone. The launch event will be followed by a crucial training program for Physical Health Education (PHE) teachers selected from across the country. These trained teachers will then be responsible for passing on their knowledge and passion for the sport to school children, fostering basic football skills and education.
The program aims to create a ripple effect, empowering young minds and nurturing future football stars. To celebrate this launch, a special football festival for kids will be held at the Wusum Field in Makeni on February 7th. This fun-filled event will provide a platform for young players to showcase their talents and experience the joy of the sport.
The SLFA believes that the FIFA Football for Schools Program will not only benefit participating pupils but also contribute significantly to the overall advancement of the football sector in Sierra Leone. This initiative promises to ignite a passion for the beautiful game amongst the nation’s youth, laying a strong foundation for future success on the national and international stage.
