Star Sports Academy has secured a significant boost to its operations after sealing a major sponsorship deal with Luminix Energy, marked by the official handover of a 30-seater mini bus and 25 portable solar energy generators.

The donation was presented during a ceremony attended by leading figures in Sierra Leone’s sporting community. Chairing the event, Mr. Hilton welcomed notable guests, including national team head coach Mohamed Kallon and National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai.

In his address, Academy Chairman Ing. Yankuba J. recounted the academy’s journey since its founding in 2022, highlighting its mission to nurture young football talent for national and international competitions.

Operating in both Freetown and Kenema, the academy focuses on Under-12, Under-15, and Under-17 categories, while integrating education into its programs. Star Sports Academy has already organized tournaments in Makeni and Angola and has secured a 10-acre plot of land and seven vehicles as part of its expansion plans.

Yankuba noted that the academy’s partnership with Luminix Energy began in 2024, with the energy company now serving as its official sponsor.

Representing Luminix Energy, a company spokesperson reiterated the organization’s mission to “power progress” through clean and sustainable energy. She stressed that their support for Star Sports Academy was “not charity, but an investment in Sierra Leone’s future,” aimed at fostering talent development and community empowerment.

National head coach Mohamed Kallon praised both the academy and Luminix Energy for their collaboration, noting that players from the academy have already made it to the national squad. He expressed hope that many more would follow.

Dr. Abdulai of the NSA commended the initiative, stating that individuals and organizations investing in sports development deserve national recognition.

The newly donated mini bus and solar generators are expected to significantly improve the academy’s transportation capacity and provide sustainable energy for its activities, strengthening its mission to develop the next generation of Sierra Leonean football stars.
