In a thrilling South-East derby match on Saturday, 8th July 2023, Suffian Kalokoh emerged as the hero for Bo Rangers FC, scoring two magnificent goals to secure a convincing 2-0 victory over Kamboi Eagles FC in the ongoing 2022/23 Sierra Leone Premier League season.
The electrifying performance dashed the hopes of the relegation-threatened Eagles and further solidified Bo Rangers’ position as the league champions.
Kalokoh, who was playing his first full 90 minutes of the season, showcased his exceptional talent with a stunning free-kick in the 64th minute and a clinical finish in the 70th minute, leaving the Kamboi Eagles defense helpless. His outstanding display earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award, as he continued to make a significant impact for his team.
This recent brace takes Kalokoh’s goal tally to three in his last two matches, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s top scorers. With a total of eight goal contributions this season (four goals and four assists), Kalokoh has proven to be an invaluable asset to Bo Rangers FC, despite often starting from the bench.
Following a spell with IFK Varnamo in Sweden, Kalokoh returned to Bo Rangers and made his competitive debut for the club during the first leg of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League preliminary rounds against CR Belouizdad in Liberia. It was during the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League season, however, that he opened his goal account. Coming on as a substitute against Bai Bureh Warriors in Port Loko, Kalokoh scored a late equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw for Bo Rangers in the first leg.
Kalokoh has also proven to be a game-changer in other important matches. In January, he made a significant impact from the bench by providing a memorable assist to Abu Komeh, who scored a late winner against East End Lions, securing a historic 1-0 victory for Bo Rangers in Freetown. This triumph marked the first time in over a decade that Bo Rangers had emerged victorious against “The Killers.”
In an interview with NewsFeed Sierra Leone, Kalokoh expressed his delight at winning his first Sierra Leone Premier League title this season with Bo Rangers. The talented striker was instrumental in their 2-0 victory over his former side, Wusum Stars Football Club, in which he also found the back of the net. Kalokoh’s journey to success began in the 2018/19 league season when he made his debut appearance in Sierra Leone’s top-tier league with Old Edwardians, scoring an impressive ten goals and finishing as the third top scorer behind Musa Noah Kamara and Baimba Sesay.
Kalokoh’s remarkable contributions extend beyond the domestic league. He scored the lone goal against Liberia during the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations held in Senegal, helping the Sierra Leone home-based team reach the quarter-finals, although they were eventually knocked out by Mali following a 1-0 defeat.
