The Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association (SLTA) reached a significant milestone on Monday when its President, Oness A. Johnson, and his technical team visited the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, at her office in Freetown.

The visit was aimed at introducing key figures from the US Taekwondo delegation, including International Coach David Pelham, Team Captain George Edward Holland, and player James Maxwell Manson.

The delegation’s working visit seeks to engage with Sierra Leone’s Taekwondo community and explore collaborative efforts to develop the sport in the country. Minister James-Teima warmly welcomed the group, acknowledging their dedication to bringing international expertise to Sierra Leone.

“I am so happy to have you in the office. Congratulations on this remarkable initiative,” said the Minister, expressing confidence that the partnership will have a positive impact on the future of Taekwondo in Sierra Leone.

Minister James-Teima also highlighted the growing popularity of the sport in Sierra Leone, stressing the importance of involving younger athletes to ensure sustained success. “Taekwondo is already doing well, and focusing on the younger generation will guarantee a bright future for the sport,” she added
