One of the biggest football regions in Sierra Leone, the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) is set to be closed over unpaid rent of its office apartment at Kingtom community.
According to documents seen by this writer, the court has notified the general secretary of WAFA that their office would be closed on Monday and things thrown out because of failing to pay their rent after several notifications.
WAFA has gone 9 months without subvention from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) that is due them. The association according to sources has gone months without paying its staff, and the office is run by personal funds from executive members.
The Sierra Leone Football Association is currently under FIFA’s financial ban since it elected its new president Thomas Daddy Brima.
