The Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Innovation (MoCTI) in Sierra Leone, in collaboration with Huawei Sierra Leone and Orange Sierra Leone, has announced the commencement of applications for the maiden edition of the Sierra Leone ICT Talent Development Program.

The program aims to equip outstanding university graduates with 21st-century Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills, empowering them to provide digital skills training to secondary school students and traders across Sierra Leone.

This year, 50 youth will undergo a fully funded, one-week intensive training at the Orange Digital Center in Freetown. The training, led by Huawei experts, will focus on Cyber Security and Digital Marketing.

Following the training, selected participants will be deployed to conduct training sessions for secondary school students and traders in eight districts across Sierra Leone.

The initiative offers incentives to participants, details of which will be provided upon final selection.

To be eligible for participation, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any ICT-related field from an accredited university within the past three years. Strong presentation and public speaking skills are essential, and participants must be willing to undergo intensive training and actively engage in community training activities.

Interested individuals can apply through the program’s application portal at https://bit.ly/ICTtalentdev-sl. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 26th, 2024, at 5:00 pm (1700HRS GMT). This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing digital skills and fostering innovation in Sierra Leone’s ICT sector.
