The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced the payment of Le 12 million (New Leones) into the Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF). The funds were recovered over the past year as part of the commission’s efforts to combat corruption.
In a press release issued on June 27, 2025, the ACC confirmed the payment to the CRF account at the Bank of Sierra Leone.
ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala stated that this payment is part of the substantial recoveries made by the commission over the past seven years, primarily through its “non-conviction based assets recovery approach.” He noted that some cases also resulted in High Court convictions.

“Where public officials are involved, the said officials did not only lose their jobs but also [were] barred from holding public office for at least three years,” Commissioner Kaifala said. He affirmed the ACC’s commitment to “continue to take stronger measures to ensure that we protect public funds and ensure that the corrupt do not benefit from ill-gotten wealth.”
Since June 2018, the commission has recovered over Le 76 million (New Leones) through its non-conviction based assets recovery model. The ACC also reported a compliance rate of over 90 percent for asset declarations, which it stated is one of the highest in Africa. The commission also boasts a conviction rate of over 90 percent in cases indicted in the High Court.
In addition to asset recovery and convictions, the ACC highlighted its achievements in corruption prevention, public education, and outreach campaigns across the country.
The ACC concluded its statement by assuring the public of its determination to “take all means necessary to protect and recover public resources at all times.”
