Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown has adjourned a matter involving three airport staff facing allegations of conspiracy and embezzlement.
The accused—Sheku Jimmy (40), a Supervisor Language Officer; Hassan Kamara (38); and Mohamed Kamara (41), both serving as cashiers—made another appearance before the court on two counts: conspiracy to defraud and embezzlement, contrary to Section 17(1)(b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charges, the alleged offenses took place between 12th February and 1st April 2025 at the Lungi International Airport Terminal in the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District. During this period, the three individuals are said to have conspired with unknown persons to engage in unauthorized activities involving ticket sales.
It is further alleged that a total of 63 Sea Coach Express tickets—each costing $45—were collected and not properly accounted for. The total value of the tickets is estimated at 73,710 New Leones, and the transactions were reportedly done without approval from Sea Coach management.
No pleas were taken when the charges were read in court.
During proceedings, prosecution witness Micah Tanimu, an Operations Manager and Technician at Sea Coach, testified that an audio recording linked to the first accused was obtained. The recording—between the first accused and a judiciary IT expert—was played in court and appeared to include a conversation about sending an unspecified item. The first accused reportedly confirmed in the recording that he was at the office and later advised that nothing further should be sent.
Following the playback, Magistrate Gbloh adjourned the matter to 15th July 2025, noting that the court will formally consider the original source of the audio recording to determine its authenticity and admissibility as evidence.
