A police operation on Monday led to the arrest of three men suspected of being involved in the printing of counterfeit money in Freetown.
Officers also recovered a loaded firearm and equipment believed to have been used in the production of the fake currency.
Reports online say the operation began when the Officer Commanding (OC) at Wellington Police Station informed the Operations Officer at Kissy Division that a suspect had been caught with fake money. The team then moved to the Rokupa community, where the printing machine was believed to be located.

The main suspect, Abdul Lamin Sesay, was reportedly inside the house. When he noticed the presence of police officers, he refused to open the door. Officers say they spoke to him several times, but he still didn’t cooperate. They later forced their way in and arrested Sesay and another man, Joseph Kabia. Fake money and a blower machine were found at the scene.

During questioning, Sesay claimed that the full printing setup belonged to his boss, who lived in the Red Pump area. The officers then left Rokupa and went to Red Pump for a follow-up search.
There, they found more counterfeit 20 Leone notes and a black Glock 22 pistol loaded with 40 bullets. A third suspect, Umur B. Kamara, was arrested at that location.

All three suspects, along with the fake money, printing equipment, and firearm, were taken to the Kissy Division for further investigation.
