The Sierra Leonean entertainment industry is facing renewed scrutiny following reports of a physical altercation between musicians Abizzy and YOK-7 during a diaspora event held in the United States.

The incident, which allegedly occurred in the presence of numerous attendees, has sparked widespread discussion about professionalism, conflict resolution, and unity within the country’s growing music scene.

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began when Abizzy, a U.S.-based Sierra Leonean Afropop artist, reportedly approached YOK7 in an attempt to mediate tensions between YOK7 and fellow artist Kao Denero. The long-standing rivalry between YOK7 and Kao Denero has previously generated significant attention both at home and within the diaspora.

However, instead of a peaceful exchange, witnesses claim that the interaction escalated into a confrontation in which YOK7 allegedly struck Abizzy.

Following the reported altercation, Abizzy took to social media to issue a statement addressing the incident. In his post, he stated:

“I could press charges; I could have fought back. But I choose not to because of what I represent. My wish is to see everyone get along. We’re all brothers.”

The post quickly went viral, drawing responses from fans, artists, and industry stakeholders. Many commended Abizzy for his restraint and public call for unity, viewing it as a contrast to the often-contentious atmosphere that has characterized some elements of Sierra Leone’s entertainment landscape in recent years.

At the time of reporting, YOK7 has not issued an official response or statement regarding the allegations.
