Dr. John Mumuneh Konteh, Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent of the Sierra Leone Police Medical Services, has returned to the country after taking part in ENDO2025, a major endocrinology congress held in San Francisco, California, USA.
The event, which ran from 12th to 21st July 2025, brought together experts from around the world to share updates and research in the field of hormone-related medical care. It was organised by the Endocrine Society in the United States and covered a wide range of health conditions, treatments, and scientific progress related to the endocrine system.
His attendance was supported jointly by the Inspector General of Police and by Konteh himself. This joint sponsorship reflects an ongoing effort to improve medical services within the Sierra Leone Police, especially in areas of specialised care.

During the 10-day programme, he took part in sessions that focused on modern approaches to treating conditions such as diabetes, thyroid issues, and other hormone-related disorders. He also gained exposure to the latest diagnostic tools and treatment options used internationally. In addition, the event created space for collaboration with other medical professionals from different countries.
Konteh is a registered member of both the Endocrine Society (USA), with membership number 1392, and the European Society of Endocrinology, with membership number 14894.

Knowledge gained from this congress is expected to be applied in the work of the Sierra Leone Police Medical Services. It will support better treatment and care for police officers who live with endocrine health conditions. It will also help improve response to emergencies linked to hormonal imbalances and support links between police medical services and public health systems.
The Sierra Leone Police shared the news of his participation as part of its ongoing focus on professional development, healthcare improvement, and wellness for its personnel.
