The Bo Government Reservation area was disrupted on Friday, 22 August 2025, when two men were rescued from a mob after being accused of attempting to kidnap a teenage girl.

The suspects, identified as Mohamed Sheku Sannoh and Abdulai Sandi of Gbaima Road, Bo City, allegedly approached a 16-year-old girl, claiming they could help her because her academic performance was “spiritually affected.” According to police, the girl agreed to accompany them on a motorbike, but her aunt raised an alarm after questioning their movements.

Community members intercepted the suspects when the motorbike failed to start. Local stakeholders and civil society representatives, led by Joseph Dominic Blackie, contacted AIG Brima Kanneh, Regional Police Commander South, who dispatched officers from Bo West Division and the Operations Support Division to prevent mob violence.

Police recovered a bag containing chants, “sebe,” country cloth, and other items, which prompted concerns among residents. While locals accused the men of planning a ritual act, suspect Mohamed Sheku Sannoh reportedly admitted they intended to rob the girl of her phone and valuables, not to harm her.

The victim, who was briefly in shock after the incident, has since recovered. The case is now under investigation by the Regional Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) South, which is examining both robbery and ritual-related allegations.

AIG Brima Kanneh assured residents that the Sierra Leone Police is committed to a thorough investigation and urged the public to remain calm while the inquiry continues.
