Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, held a high-level conversation with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed in New York. The conversation is aimed at strengthening Sierra Leone’s role in global development and the country’s leadership agenda.
Experts also believe that the meeting depicts Sierra Leone’s commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and the country’s growing leadership on the global stage.
During the meeting, Chief Minister David Sengeh highlighted President Julius Maada Bio’s several engagement and recent achievements including a bilateral engagement with the United Nations Secretary-General, Chair of the Committee of Ten (40) advocating for Africa’s representation on the UN Security Council and current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority. He stressed that these are testament of the role Sierra Leone continues to play in shaping international dialogue on peace, security, and governance.

Sengeh highlighted the importance of the radical inclusion policy, which has been a core tenet of President Bio’s national and foreign policy agenda, aligning with global efforts to build a more peaceful, fair, and just world.
“This engagement reflects the government’s proactive diplomacy and reinforces Sierra Leone’s voice as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.’’ He said.
