Albert Academy Secondary School has taken a decisive stand against substance abuse through a collaborative effort between the Albert Academy Alumni Association United Kingdom and the “Say No To Drugs Campaign Team.”

The awareness campaign took place during the school assembly on Monday, September 9, where pupils were sensitized to the dangers of drugs and other harmful substances.

The event also featured the presentation of school kits from the UK Chapter of the Alumni Association, along with five footballs, two armbands, and a banner donated by the campaign team.

Mohamed Mansaray, representing the Albert Academy Alumni Association UK, urged the school administration to make full use of the donated items while reinforcing the school’s zero-tolerance measures against substance abuse.

Abu Bakarr Sillah, CEO of the “Say No To Drugs Campaign Team,” emphasized the importance of early intervention. “Our goal is to end substance abuse at all levels. We must catch them young,” he said.

The school administration and pupils welcomed the initiative, echoing the campaign’s message: “Say no to drugs, our future matters.”

This partnership comes at a critical time, following President Julius Maada Bio’s 2024 declaration of substance abuse as a “state of emergency,” highlighting the need for education and preventive measures in schools across Sierra Leone.
