Sierra Leone has received an official invitation to take part in the 33rd edition of the Foire Internationale de Dakar (FIDAK), scheduled to run from 7th to 31st December 2025 in Senegal, under the theme “Transformation territoriale et développement inclusif” (Territorial Transformation and Inclusive Development).

The invitation follows continued engagements between Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal, Ibrahim Turay, and the Senegalese authorities  building on the recent visit of the Senegalese Prime Minister to Sierra Leone, which resulted in the signing of several bilateral trade agreements.

During a meeting held on 6th October 2025 at the Centre International du Commerce Extérieur du Sénégal (CICES) in Dakar, Ambassador Turay highlighted Sierra Leone’s investment opportunities and trade potential capable of boosting regional commerce.

The Director General of FIDAK, Mr. Justin Correa, expressed keen interest in Sierra Leone’s participation and reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to promote intra-African trade in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Recognized as one of West Africa’s largest multisectoral trade fairs, the Dakar International Trade Fair attracts over 1,500 exhibitors and more than 300,000 visitors annually. It serves as a key platform for nations, companies, and entrepreneurs to showcase products and services, forge partnerships, and promote investment, culture, and innovation.

To further solidify cooperation, Mr. Correa proposed a preparatory mission to Sierra Leone to engage government institutions, private sector actors, and the Chamber of Commerce. The visit aims to outline the benefits of Sierra Leone’s participation in FIDAK and explore new avenues for strengthening trade and commercial ties.

The planned mission is expected to consolidate ongoing diplomatic and trade engagements, establish working linkages with trade and export institutions in Senegal, and foster direct collaboration between businesses and traders from both nations.
