Professor Ezekiel Kalvin Duramany-Lakkoh has expressed profound gratitude following his appointment as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone.
In a statement titled “Note of Appreciation and Personal Statement,” Professor Duramany-Lakkoh thanked the University Court, the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, the academic community, and well-wishers for the confidence placed in him to serve in one of the university’s most distinguished leadership roles.
Describing the appointment as “an honour and a call to serve,” he pledged his commitment to advancing IPAM’s vision of academic excellence, research innovation, and community impact.
He also paid tribute to his predecessor, Associate Professor Miriam Conteh-Morgan, lauding her for her discipline, innovation, and dedication to institutional growth.
A proud alumnus of IPAM, Professor Duramany-Lakkoh highlighted his over 18 years of experience in academia, research, and financial management, noting his contributions as Dean in establishing new faculties, launching twelve degree programs, and spearheading major fundraising projects, including the Ekundayo Thompson Building and IPAM’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Beyond his academic role, he is the founder of the Duramany-Lakkoh Educational Foundation and the Kids Advocacy Foundation, both focused on empowering young Sierra Leoneans through education and leadership.
He is also a recipient of more than 150 national and international awards, including the African Achievers Award at the UK House of Lords.
Concluding his statement, Professor Duramany-Lakkoh emphasized unity and shared purpose, stating: “Together, with collective commitment, we can build on IPAM’s legacy and advance the cause of higher education for national development.”
