President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has received the Letters of Credence from His Excellency Mersole J. Mellejor, Ambassador of the Philippines resident in Abuja, Nigeria, during an official ceremony held at State House in Freetown.

The presentation marks the official commencement of Ambassador Mellejor’s diplomatic tenure in Sierra Leone and reaffirms the strong and enduring relationship between the two nations.

In a statement following the ceremony, President Bio expressed his honor and pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Mellejor to Sierra Leone, describing the event as a testament to the longstanding friendship and fruitful cooperation that have characterized relations between Sierra Leone and the Philippines.

“I look forward to strengthening our bilateral relations as we collaborate on advancing the Feed Salone initiative,” President Bio stated.

The President noted that Sierra Leone continues to value its partnership with the Philippines, particularly in areas such as education, governance, infrastructure, renewable energy, and economic reform. He emphasized his government’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration that align with Sierra Leone’s national development priorities.

The ceremony concluded with both leaders reaffirming their countries’ mutual respect, shared values, and commitment to advancing a partnership that promotes prosperity, peace, and progress for the people of Sierra Leone.
