Two individuals accused of stealing merchandise worth thousands of New Leones from Bicky’s Place Boutique have appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 on July 6 and 7, 2025.

The accused persons, David Kamara and Martin Lucious, are being held in connection with a major burglary at the boutique located at No. 48 Liverpool Street, Freetown.

David Kamara, a former security guard at the boutique, faces eight counts of larceny by a servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. He is alleged to have stolen the following items belonging to businesswoman Binta Tejan Kella:

• Assorted clothing valued at NLe 260,160
• Assorted shoes worth NLe 292,100
• Bags valued at NLe 53,150
• Twelve glasses worth NLe 10,200
• Thirteen purses totaling NLe 8,250

His accomplice, Martin Lucious, is charged with receiving stolen goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the same Act. The charges allege that he knowingly bought:

• 15 pairs of assorted sneakers valued at NLe 10,000
• 101 pairs of sandals worth NLe 50,500
• 61 pieces of ladies’ wear valued at NLe 22,265

Chief Superintendent of Police T.B. Zizer Esq. is leading the prosecution.

Testifying as the third prosecution witness, DPC Mohamed Lahun,  attached to the Economic and Financial Fraud Unit at CID Headquarters, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant on June 25, 2025.

He explained that Kamara was arrested on June 26, and a voluntary caution statement was obtained in Krio and later translated into English for the court. Lucious was arrested on July 1 at his residence, where police executed a search warrant in the presence of three women. Ten assorted sneakers were reportedly found and tendered as exhibits.

Further investigations also led to the discovery of 101 pairs of ladies’ wear at his business premises, which were also tendered before the court. Caution statements from both defendants were presented to Magistrate Jah.

The suspects had legal representation during the court sessions and they were denied bail, both men have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to October 29, 2025, for further hearings.
