A 22-year-old welder, Ibrahim Conteh, has pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny for stealing six sheep valued at Le48,000. He is currently awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for November 11, 2025.
Conteh appeared before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Court No. 4 in Freetown on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, where he faced one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Mongage Bathurst Village, Gloucester Saddle, Freetown, the accused allegedly stole six ram sheep, each valued at Le8,000, the property of Sahr Pessima.
When the charge was read and explained, Conteh pleaded guilty. During the hearing, Prosecutor Inspector A.T. Bangura called the second prosecution witness, Police Constable Bismerall Brewah (Badge No. 13820), attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Hilltop Police Station.
Constable Brewah testified that on October 5, 2025, the complainant reported the theft. He stated that statements were obtained from both the complainant and the accused.
The accused’s statement was taken in Krio, recorded in English, and read back to him in Krio, which he confirmed by affixing his right thumbprint, witnessed by Inspector Dumbuya. The statement was tendered as Exhibit A1-4.
Brewah further told the court that on October 6, 2025, he and other officers executed a search warrant at Kissy Old Road, where the accused claimed the stolen sheep were kept, but none were found. A second statement from the accused was also obtained and marked as Exhibit B1-3.
At the time of the proceedings, Conteh was not legally represented. Magistrate Kandeh ordered that he be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending sentencing.
The matter was adjourned to November 11, 2025, for ruling.
