Africell Sierra Leone has reviewed its Weekly (7 days) Unlimited Data Bundle and replaced it with a better value plan designed to deliver improved service quality, fairness and affordability for customers nationwide.
The telecommunications company announced that the new bundles are structured to ensure faster, more reliable internet access while maintaining affordability for all users.
Under the revised structure, customers can now enjoy 2 Mbps unlimited browsing for 3 days at Le40, 2 Mbps unlimited browsing for 5 days at Le80 and a Daily Unlimited Bundle for just Le15. According to Africell’s Media Relations Manager, Abdul Karim Sesay, the review demonstrates Africell’s continued commitment to customer satisfaction, improved service delivery and equitable data access.
Explaining the rationale behind the changes, Africell`s Media Manager Abdul Karim Sesay said the decision was influenced by the need to enhance user experience and manage network congestion. “The old ‘open’ unlimited model allowed a small number of heavy users to consume excessive bandwidth, which slowed down internet speeds for others,” he explained. “With this new system, we’re ensuring a fair, balanced and faster browsing experience for everyone.”
He clarified that the introduction of a new data plan does not mean removing unlimited access. “Customers still enjoy unlimited browsing,” he stated. “What we have done is implement an internationally accepted practice that regulates speed only after unusually high data consumption within a short period. It’s about fairness and maintaining service quality for all.”
Addressing concerns about pricing, Abdul Karim Sesay dismissed suggestions that the company was increasing costs. “Africell remains Sierra Leone’s most affordable network,” he affirmed. “The Le15 daily, Le40 three-day and Le80 five-day bundles offer better value and more consistent performance than before. This is a service upgrade, not a price hike.”
He added that the new structure will significantly improve browsing and streaming quality while reducing congestion across the network. “Customers will enjoy more stable connections and a smoother experience throughout the day,” he said.
In reaffirming Africell’s transparency, Abdul Karim Sesay noted that the company continues to engage civil society, the media and online influencers to explain the rationale behind the changes. He also emphasized that the plan benefits rural customers, ensuring that bandwidth is shared equitably between urban and rural users.
He concluded that the review aligns with National Telecommunications Authority (NaTCA) standards and global best practices, reinforcing Africell’s goal to provide quality, fairness and value for money while keeping Sierra Leone connected through affordable and reliable communication services.

This doesn’t make sense how can someone pay le40 for 3 days and then pay le80 for 5 days. Can the management hear themselves hmm.on my point of view is an increase of price.
At list let it be le80 for 7days unlimited and le100 for 7 days unlimited depending on the speed.
Sincerely, the introduction of a new tariff is good but removing the 60 Le per week is a bad decision that I think the management should looked into and bring it back as an alternative to the new tariff.
The time has come for us to forget about Africell network, thank God you are not the only one in our country but always you are the first network to bring changes in our country very bad the time will come when we are going to kick you out of our country inshallah why always Africell.Mid night free call gone, Wednesday unlimited gone all the facilities Sierra Leonean supposed to have all gone because of your selfish interest
My brother, it cuts across the board ooh. Orange gave their notice last week, bro.
Wow, that’s some true talk right there. So the last i heard is that Q-cell CEO is Gambian, Africell CEO is Lebanese, and orange is Asian but I’m not 100% about orange. I suspect that the price has increased because people are sick and tired of the crap network over here and they are now using One Network. 1 MBPS is crazy. If people protest and boycott, it will hurt their pockets!! I was used to minimum 35 MBPS when I was in the UK so you can imagine my disappointment when I had to go down to the slowest network ever. There are apps I cannot access unless I’m in an area where coverage is OK. We should have lightning speed network considering most of the resources were either stolen from us or they got it for pittance. It’s so unfair. Well we can live in hope.
Since the weekly unlimited bundle tariff has increased from 60le to 100le I will never do a weekly data subscription again.
I have been subscribing weekly unlimited bundle continuesly for 8 months now but I think it has to stop now.
Ooh Salone again. Is this to the notice of the regulatory bodies but consumers remain in communicado ? We only hope NaTCA and others will add their approval to this price hike with explanation
Wow !
Finally, bye bye to unlimited, because I can’t afford it.
Most Sierra Leoneans are very good at defending stupidity for sure. The so-called publicity manager at africel is justifying the fact that they are creating unnecessary price hiking for the ordinary citizens of this country with the full consent of the government. This is a grave extortion from your fellow citizens. We are paying for services that we never enjoyed and yet those criminal institutions operating within the country are adding to the already existing suffering while some greedy citizens are applauding it.
How is that quality?? When it’s the same 1Mbpss sold in disguise as 2Mbps sold at a higher price. Africell and Orange are of no good to the country. Imagine the poverty rate and low salaries workers earn in this country deducting Le. 400 just for internet fee monthly costs a lot
Sierraloaded will not allow to confirm my comment here, bcz the kind of abusive words I should have use trust they will tried to locate me for arrest, but I don’t fear the arrest just that if I write my comment if it is going to be allow here.

This will make africell and orange lost customers like me
I am going to switch to Qcell data subscription
Actually, these people are not here to help us, when they brought facility, that will help the poor, as we started enjoying, it, they change it.
