Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman in Freetown under circumstances that have sparked public outcry and allegations of drug use and foul play from her family.

The family of the deceased has pointed fingers at a legal practitioner, Esq. Foday Merrytwoe Kamara, whom they allege provided her with a substance believed to be the illicit drug Ecstasy (MDMA).

According to family members, the young woman informed her roommate that the lawyer, described as her boyfriend, had given her the pill. They claim to possess WhatsApp messages in which the suspect proposed they both take the drug to enhance their intimate encounter.

Later that same night, the woman returned home in a severely distressed and unstable condition. She was rushed to a hospital by her roommate and neighbors, where she subsequently died while receiving treatment.

Family sources state that medical personnel indicated the presence of substances in her system and noted signs consistent with extreme sexual activity, allegedly involving multiple men. They insist her death was not natural.

The family has filed a formal complaint with the Sierra Leone Police, demanding a full investigation and the arrest of all individuals involved. They have also called upon the Lawyers’ Council of Sierra Leone and the Bar Association to address the allegations against the legal practitioner named in the complaint.

As of press time, the Sierra Leone Police have not issued an official statement on the ongoing investigation. Attempts to reach Esq. Foday Merrytwoe Kamara for comment were unsuccessful.
