The Progressive Youths of Kori Chiefdom have successfully concluded the first phase of their two-day school-to-school engagement program aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of synthetic narcotic drugs, including kush and Tramadol, in the Njala and Mosongo communities.
During the opening of the campaign, the acting youth leader of Mokonde thanked school heads for their cooperation despite short notice and acknowledged the support of Ambassador Dr. Phrancis Hopanda Momoh.
Addressing participants, the youth leader emphasized the severe impact of drug abuse on young people and the importance of rehabilitation. “Youths are the backbone of our nation’s development, and our mission is to help them break free from addiction and reclaim their lives,” he said.

The campaign educated pupils on the negative effects of drug abuse, mental health implications, relevant laws and policies, and environmental safety.
The initiative reached several schools, including the University Secondary School, Njala Campus, and Every Nation Academy Primary School. School authorities and students expressed their appreciation for the program and pledged ongoing support to combat drug use in their communities.
The team plans to extend outreach to more schools and communities but noted challenges with logistics and funding. They urged community members to report drug dealers to local authorities and remain vigilant in the fight against drug abuse.
Through this program, the Progressive Youths of Kori Chiefdom aim to empower the younger generation and create safer, drug-free communities.
