Thirty-year-old Hassanatu Jalloh, an unemployed woman, has made another appearance before Magistrate Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing charges of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 8th August 2025, at No. 28 Thirst Drive, Lumley, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused, with intent to steal, allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Salamatu Sesay and stole the sum of ten thousand Leones (NLe 10,000), the property of Elizabeth Fassay, while the money was in the custody of Salamatu Sesay.
Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai informed the court that the prosecution had closed its case.
After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Jah ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case and therefore committed the accused to stand trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone. He also certified that all prosecution witnesses testified in his presence and that the accused had the opportunity to cross-examine them.
The magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of twenty thousand Leones (NLe 20,000), with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be residents of Freetown and present valid identification showing their addresses.
Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
