The Community Relations Department of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), in collaboration with the Family Support Unit and the Police Media Team, has continued its school sensitization campaign with an engagement at Gbense High School.

The session focused on key issues affecting young people, including drug abuse, sexual offences, early marriage, and public order offences. Pupils were also updated on the SLP’s ongoing transition from a “Force” to a more community-centred and service-oriented policing model.

Facilitators underscored the importance of awareness and personal responsibility, urging pupils to avoid harmful behaviours and contribute positively to their communities. They noted that the new policing approach prioritizes deeper community engagement as a strategy to strengthen public trust and enhance crime prevention.

School authorities expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as vital in shaping pupils’ understanding of safety, responsibility, and the law. They also appealed for more frequent sensitization sessions.

According to the Local Unit Commander (LUC), additional schools within the division are expected to benefit from the ongoing campaign, reinforcing the SLP’s commitment to building safer and more resilient communities.
