First Lady Fatima Maada Bio celebrated her birthday by joining pupils and alumni of the Hartford School for Girls in Moyamba, coinciding with the school’s 125th founding anniversary and a ceremonial flag-raising.
During the celebration, the First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to championing women and girls’ empowerment. She emphasized the importance of education and protection in nurturing the next generation of female leaders and highlighted her ongoing national initiative, the ‘Hands Off Our Girls’ campaign.
Addressing attendees, she said, “When you empower a woman, you awaken generations, and that is why my Hands Off Our Girls campaign still exists.” She encouraged the school community to “rise higher, shine brighter, and dream bigger.”

The First Lady also expressed gratitude for birthday wishes, stating her appreciation for the warm reception, gifts, and support from her husband, President Julius Maada Bio.
The event drew various dignitaries, alumni, and community members who joined in celebrating both the school’s milestone and the First Lady’s birthday. The flag-raising ceremony symbolized the school’s rich legacy of 125 years of service to women’s education.
