The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has announced that the Dambala Bridge along the Bo-Yele-Matotoka Road will be temporarily closed from December 16 to December 22, 2025, to facilitate necessary reinstatement works.

The official notice came after the bridge experienced a partial collapse two months ago when a truck attempted to cross it.

In an official public notice issued by the SLRA, the authority outlined the closure as a safety measure for road users while the reconstruction work is being carried out. The SLRA, in partnership with DIG Contractors, will be working to restore the bridge to a safe and operational condition.

The SLRA reminded the public that traffic on the bridge will be completely blocked during the reinstatement process, which is expected to last for one week. The closure is intended to ensure the safety of motorists, commercial bike riders, cyclists, and all road users while the repair works are in progress.

Once the reinstatement works are completed, the bridge will be re-opened to general traffic on December 23, 2025. The SLRA further extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused by the partial collapse and the resulting closure of the bridge.

In the statement, the SLRA also solicited the usual cooperation of the public during the scheduled period, stressing that these measures are part of the broader efforts to maintain a safe, reliable, and sustainable national road network.

For more information, the SLRA remains committed to keeping the public informed and ensuring the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians on the national road system.
