Twelve top-performing students drawn from nine universities across Sierra Leone have been awarded scholarships, trophies, and cash prizes of NLe3,000 each by the Adonis Abboud Trust Fund in recognition of outstanding academic performance.

The awards ceremony brought together students, parents, university representatives, and education stakeholders, marking another milestone in the Trust Fund’s effort to promote academic excellence and support higher education in the country.

According to the Adonis Abboud Trust Fund, the beneficiaries were selected based on strong academic records and consistency in their studies. Each of the 12 awardees received a scholarship package, a trophy, and a cash award of NLe3,000 as part of the incentive to encourage continued excellence in education.

One of the recipients, Samuel Kamara of Ernest Bai Koroma University, expressed gratitude to the Trust Fund for the support. He explained that he had faced serious challenges in pursuing his education after losing both parents.

Kamara said he had to combine his university studies with gold mining in order to raise money to pay his school fees, describing the award as timely encouragement to continue his academic journey.

Founder of the Trust Fund, Dr. Adonis Abboud, congratulated the students for their achievements and commended them for remaining focused despite challenges. He emphasized that the purpose of the initiative is to motivate students across the country to take their education seriously and to reward hard work and discipline.

Dr. Abboud also used the occasion to call on parents and guardians to ensure that their children remain in school. He stressed that education remains the strongest tool for national development and human capital growth, noting that investing in young people is key to building a better future for Sierra Leone.

The Adonis Abboud Trust Fund has, over the years, supported students in various institutions across the country through scholarships and educational assistance. The organization says it remains committed to promoting access to education and recognizing academic excellence as part of its contribution to national development.
