Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger has joined former Leone Stars forward Kei Kamara to unveil plans for the construction of a modern sports facility in Bo District, Eastern Sierra Leone.

The proposed project, which will be located at Baoma Village in Bo District, is expected to include a football academy with modern football pitches and a fully equipped fitness centre, aimed at nurturing young talent and promoting sports development in the region.

Wolfsburg winger and Leone Stars captain Mustapha Bundu was also present during the visit, as Kamara walked Rüdiger through the vision and scope of the project in the presence of fans and community members who gathered at the site.

In a Facebook post, Kamara disclosed that the Real Madrid star was keen on seeing the project firsthand. “My brother, Rüdiger called and wanted to see the project first-hand, but most importantly he wanted to show love to my community,” Kamara wrote.

Rüdiger’s visit to Sierra Leone in 2025 has been widely welcomed by locals, inspiring young footballers and drawing attention to the importance of investing in grassroots sports. His presence at Baoma has not only elevated hopes for the successful delivery of the project but has also strengthened ties between international football and local communities, leaving a lasting impact and reinforcing his pride in his Sierra Leonean heritage.
