Sierra Leone recorded 306,057 live births in 2025, according to the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) provisional report for the year ending December 31, 2025. The report indicate that Females accounted for 51% of births, while males made up 49%.

The total recorded for males in 2025 was 149,968, and 156,089 females, with a sex ratio of 96.

Furthermore, the report also documented 3,739 stillbirths in 2025, and a total of 17,905 deaths were recorded. Additionally, a share of 10,280 (57%) were Male and 7,625 (43%) Female, with most deaths occurring among people aged 60 years and above (32%). Children aged 0–4 years accounted for 15% of recorded deaths in 2025.

Additionally, a total of 160 adoption cases were registered across the country in 2025; of this total, Male and Female accounted for 38% (61) and 62% (99), respectively.

The NCRA said the figures are provisional and were compiled in line with the National Civil Registration Act of 2016.

The NCRA rendered their appreciation to other institutions or organisations in the recording of these vital events. They encouraged encourage the public (citizens and foreign residents) to register their births (live or still), deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions and nullities as and when they occur to have an updated record on the population of Sierra Leone.
