Two former police officers and a civilian have been reportedly remanded in custody by the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown over an alleged armed robbery involving more than US$11,000 at the Regent Palace Hotel.
The accused are Emmanuel Lassayo Jusu, 41, and Joseph Jeremiah M’bosa, 34, both former members of the Sierra Leone Police, and Sellieu Saccoh, 37, popularly known as “Sharkor.”
They appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah on charges of conspiracy and robbery with aggravation, offences considered among the most serious under Sierra Leonean law.
According to the prosecution, the alleged incident took place on December 8 and 9, 2025, at the Regent Palace Hotel in Freetown. Prosecutors told the court that the three accused conspired and carried out an armed robbery against Javed Saleem, a Pakistani national staying at the hotel.
Court records state that the accused allegedly used a pistol to forcibly take US$11,000 and Le 2,500 from the complainant. The prosecution further alleged that personal violence was used against the victim before the money was taken.
Due to the matter being at a preliminary stage, the accused persons were not required to enter pleas. Defense counsel, J.M. Jengo Esq., applied to the court for permission to cross-examine two prosecution witnesses, an application which was noted by the magistrate.
In his ruling on bail, Magistrate Jah refused the application, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the nature of the offence. He ordered that all three accused be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
The case was adjourned to January 23, 2026. The prosecution is being led by Mabel M. Tarawally, Esq.
