Presidential flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, has challenged Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh on social media, asserting that she is best positioned to correct him on Sierra Leone’s political history.
Blyden, known for her forthright commentary on political matters, reacted sharply after Chief Minister Sengeh criticized the All People’s Congress (APC), accusing the party of opposing inclusive multi-party democracy. In a post that has since gone viral, Sengeh stated:
“The APC does not believe in inclusive multi-party democracy. They are the only party to have pushed a One Party State in Sierra Leone. This is why they pushed for the changes in Section 35 in the Constitution which allows smaller political parties to exist. For APC, it’s only about them and no one else. That’s what we must keep fighting against because inclusive multi-party democracy is the surest way to national development. The SLPP on the other hand is a SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY. We are different!”
In response, Dr. Blyden fired back in a post laden with historical references, asserting her deep knowledge of past political events. She wrote:
“David Moinina Sengeh, I just saw your trash about APC & One Party State. I will lecture you soon on roles of your dad, Paul Sengeh right inside APC amid 1982 Pujehun Violence.”
Through her statement, Blyden directly referenced Paul Sengeh, the father of the Chief Minister, noting his involvement in the APC during the politically turbulent period of the 1982 Pujehun Violence. Her comments suggest that she intends to provide a detailed account of the historical context and challenge Sengeh’s interpretation of APC’s political legacy.
The exchange has quickly gained traction on social media, as many await the full response from Sylvia, who is known for backing her claims with historic references.
