Ecobank Sierra Leone has partnered with Icona London to provide asset financing solutions that make household appliances and electronics more accessible through flexible installment payment plans.
The partnership was launched at a media event attended by customers, business representatives, and other stakeholders. The initiative aims to support financial inclusion while addressing affordability challenges for essential home and business equipment.
Kate Thompson, Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Sierra Leone, said the facility allows customers to access up to 100 percent financing for selected products, with repayment periods of up to 36 months. The programme targets households, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporate clients.
“By enabling customers to acquire productive and lifestyle-enhancing assets without large upfront payments, this initiative aligns with Ecobank’s strategy to promote inclusive banking and economic activity,” Thompson said.
Icona London representative Kai Pengusaquee noted that high upfront costs often prevent consumers from purchasing quality appliances. “This partnership offers installment options that match customers’ income levels, widening access to durable products,” he said.
Ecobank Executive Director Winston George Williams described the collaboration as a strategic effort to improve access to essential appliances. “Ecobank brings financial capacity, digital platforms, and customer reach, while Icona London provides product expertise and supply,” Williams said, noting the programme could enhance household living conditions and SME productivity.
Icona’s Country Director, Jayesh Pradhi, welcomed the partnership, emphasizing its focus on empowerment and community development. Both institutions confirmed that the asset financing scheme is now operational, supporting broader objectives of financial inclusion, consumer spending, and economic resilience in Sierra Leone.
