Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, has on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, showcased what he described as major progress in free quality education and family planning during a presidential panel at the World Governments Summit in Dubai.
Speaking at the global forum, President Bio said Sierra Leone has made “significant progress” in advancing family planning while also providing free, quality education for children at both primary and secondary school levels. He linked these efforts to the country’s broader human capital development agenda.
“This morning at the Presidential panel at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, I emphasized the significant progress we have achieved in advancing family planning and providing free, quality education for our children at both primary and secondary levels,” President Bio said.

He noted that education and access to family planning are central to improving social outcomes and preparing the country’s young population for future opportunities. According to the president, the government is also focusing on youth empowerment as Africa reshapes its engagement with the rest of the world.
“We are actively empowering our youth as Africa strategically redefines its global relationships,” he stated.
President Bio further used the platform to address governance and political stability, stressing Sierra Leone’s commitment to democratic principles at a time of global change.

“As the world undergoes transition, I reaffirm our unwavering commitment to democracy,” he said.
The World Governments Summit brings together heads of state, policymakers, and international partners to discuss global challenges and governance strategies.
