The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has intensified its ongoing clean-up and enforcement operations across the Western Area, targeting illegal garages, unauthorised structures, and abandoned vehicles as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety, security, and free movement.
The operation conducted on Thursday covered several key locations, including Barlatt Street off Syke Street, areas behind Saint Anthony Church, and Back Street around the National Stadium axis.
During the exercise, SLP personnel dismantled makeshift and illegal structures, cleared roadside encroachments, and towed away abandoned vehicles obstructing roads and pedestrian walkways. The operation restored access routes for residents and commuters while eliminating spaces believed to be susceptible to criminal activities.

The clean-up exercise was led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Sahr Yomba Senesi, together with the Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr Martin John Senesie.
Speaking during the operation, DIG Senesi reaffirmed the SLP’s commitment to collaborating with other law enforcement agencies and municipal authorities to reclaim public spaces and maintain public order. He emphasised that the initiative is designed to deter unlawful activities and promote safer communities.

He further warned property owners and operators to comply with existing regulations by removing abandoned vehicles and illegal structures, noting that failure to do so would attract enforcement action by the police.
The SLP has assured the public that the clean-up and enforcement drive will continue across the city as part of sustained efforts to uphold law and order.
