The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Mr. Conrad Sackey, has commended educators, students, and partners for their unwavering commitment to education during the National Education Champions Award (NECA) ceremony held at the Bintumani Hotel.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sackey said he was honoured to join “remarkable educators, students, and partners” in celebrating the courage to teach, to learn, and to believe in education as the strongest ladder out of limitation. He described the event as a powerful reminder that educational progress is built on collective effort.
The Minister noted that he was deeply inspired by the excellence recognised through the NECA Awards, which honoured outstanding schools and graduates. He also highlighted the introduction of the Resilience Award for learners with disabilities as a significant milestone, describing it as a strong statement of inclusion and hope within the education sector.
According to Mr. Sackey, moments like the NECA Awards demonstrate that success in education is never the work of one individual or institution, but the result of many hands working together for Sierra Leone’s future
He paid special tribute to teachers, referring to them as the “quiet architects of transformation,” and encouraged students to remain dedicated and focused, stressing that their efforts today are shaping the nation of tomorrow.
The Minister concluded by calling for sustained celebration of excellence, stronger partnerships, and increased investment in every child’s potential, noting that the future Sierra Leone desires begins with the education being built collectively today.
