The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has been honoured with the 8th Service Delivery Award by the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation in Port Loko, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to sports development in Sierra Leone.

The award was presented during a ceremony organised by the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, which cited Dr. Abdulai’s transparent and credible service delivery in both the public and private sectors as the basis for the honour.

Presenting the 2025 award, the Executive Director of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, Junisa Fofana, said the selection of Dr. Abdulai followed a rigorous nomination and vetting process.

He emphasised that the foundation’s awards are based strictly on merit, describing the process as transparent and credible. According to Fofana, Dr. Abdulai’s record of leadership and accountability stood out among nominees considered by the foundation.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Abdulai expressed gratitude to the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation for the recognition and stressed the importance of merit-based awards in national development. He noted that such recognition encourages public servants to remain committed to integrity and service.

Dr. Abdulai also acknowledged the collective effort of the National Sports Authority staff, describing the award as a reflection of their hard work and dedication. He, in turn, presented the award to the NSA team in appreciation of their support and commitment.

Dr. Abdulai has played a key role in shaping Sierra Leone’s sports sector over the years. In 2019, he served as Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, overseeing a league widely regarded as unmatched in the country for its organisation, transparency and consistent turnout at match venues.

The Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation said the award forms part of its broader effort to recognise individuals whose service and leadership positively impact national institutions and community development.
