President Julius Maada Bio hosted a significant diplomatic and pastoral engagement today at State House, receiving His Eminence Cardinal Arrigo Miglio and Bishop Dr. Darlingston Johnson.

The meetings underscored the vital role of religious institutions in Sierra Leone’s national development and peace-building efforts.

The visit of Cardinal Miglio served as a milestone in the enduring partnership between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Catholic Church.

President Bio formally acknowledged the Church’s expansive footprint in the country, particularly its essential contributions to healthcare, education, and social welfare.

In a gesture of international goodwill, the President extended his highest regards to the Vatican.

“Through the Cardinal, I sent my warm regards and best wishes to Pope Leo XIV,” President Bio noted, reaffirming the mutual respect between his administration and the Holy See.

The President also welcomed Bishop Dr. Darlingston Johnson, the Founder and Presiding Bishop of Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited. Bishop Johnson is currently in Freetown for the International General Conference of Harvest Ministries.

During their dialogue, President Bio reflected on the intersection of faith and public service, emphasizing that moral leadership is foundational to effective governance.

The President Bio remarked that “no political leader can govern successfully without the divine guidance and wisdom of God.”
