The Acting Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, has called on party members to conduct themselves peacefully and lawfully as the party prepares to hold its national lower-level elections on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

In a statement ahead of the polls, Yansaneh described the exercise as the first election to be conducted under the party’s new constitution. He acknowledged that challenges may arise but stressed the need for members to work together to address them.

This is the first election which we believe that every new things has problems, and we can only solve those problems if we try to solve them. It is a new constitution we have now,” the APC Acting Chairman stated.

He urged members across the country to actively participate in the process, emphasizing that voting remains the legitimate way to influence leadership decisions within the party.

I admonish you all to go out and vote, this is the only way out, and you should do it peacefully,” he said.

Yansaneh also advised members who may be dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections to seek redress through established internal mechanisms rather than resorting to confrontation or violence. He pointed specifically to the Independent Elections Complaint Board as the appropriate body to handle electoral grievances.

If you’re not satisfied with the outcome of the election, there is a remedy, which is by putting forward your concerns to the Independent Elections Complaint Board, that is better than fighting for which you can face the full force of the law, and we don’t want anybody to fall victim of that by taking the laws into your hands,” he said.

The Acting Chairman further stressed the importance of respecting the rule of law and accepting decisions made through due process.

We want everybody to obey the law and accept a decision. If anyone is not satisfied with the election, you can challenge it, and the means of challenging it is through the Independent Elections Complaint Board,” Yansaneh added.

The APC is set to conduct its national lower-level elections nationwide on February 14, 2026, as part of its internal democratic process under the new constitutional framework. Yansaneh’s remarks focused on promoting unity, peaceful participation, and the use of lawful channels to resolve disputes arising from the exercise.
