Three men have been remanded in custody after the prosecution’s key witness gave detailed testimony alleging they assaulted and robbed a property owner in Regent Village.

The accused Alimamy Dumbuya (alias Dedeh), Charles Lahai, and Abdul Davidon appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to two counts: larceny and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Prosecution witness Mohamed Kabbie Conteh, a businessman, told the court that on 31 January 2026, while surveying his land in Regent Village with a surveyor, he observed the three men moving bricks to another section of the property. Mr. Conteh said he confronted them and threatened to call the police, after which the defendants allegedly responded with verbal abuse and then attacked him.

Mr. Conteh described the assault in court, saying one defendant was armed with a cutlass, another with a stone, and the third with a stick. He told the magistrate that the attackers inflicted blows across his body and that two of the men stole his bag containing documents and US$6,800 (Le161,160), while the first defendant took his Samsung Galaxy S21, valued at Le12,000. Mr. Conteh reported his injuries at the Regent Police Station and was issued a medical request form for treatment at Connaught Hospital.

Defense counsel M.S. Sumaru applied for bail, offering reliable sureties on behalf of the accused.

Magistrate Fornah denied the application, citing concerns that the defendants might interfere with witnesses if released. The three were remanded to custody and the matter was adjourned to 26 February 2026 for the continuation of proceedings.
